Original Project #10: Combat Roadster

Inspiration: 2x2 curved bricks

Description: The roadster uses these curved bricks to form a cool hood/front, has a solid, armored look, and has a rotateable turret on the roof.

Best Part: The front, with the curves and otherwise cool look.

Rebuilding #1: 7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter

Inspiration: 7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter

Description:
Keeping most of the frame, I added an open cockpit, stronger wings, and ... err ... colorful appearance.

Best Part:
This is one of the rare builds where I did not bother to use a color scheme. The best part is thinking that it might look better if I had.

PSA #4: New Segment

Just an update on The Flying Whale:

I'm starting up a new segment, called Rebuilding, which will feature sets that I have either rebuilt or edited in some way. The segement "Original Projects" will still feature things that have built on my own, drawing inspiration from other things but remaining largely 'original' works. Enjoy!

Original Project #9: Robot Character

Inspired By: Lego Alpha Team Robot "TeeVee"

Description:
This robot is very compact and durable, while maintaining a pleasing aesthetic. As always, colors can be changed to suit your taste. The arm/scanner/laser on the side is drawn from a minifigure robot from the LEGO Alpha Team sets.

Breakdown:
Relies on two 1x2-double-sided-studded pieces, as seen in the picture below:

Best Part:
It just looks cool.

PSA #3: Bricklink

If you are unaware of the awesomeness that is http://www.bricklink.com/ , it's the best place to buy and sell legos on the internet. You can find individual pieces and minifigs for better prices than most other websites. Check it out!

Original Project #7: Robot of Light

Inspired By: Transparent Lego pieces

Description: This powerful robot utilizes light energy to power his laser weapons

Arms and legs are fully positionable. Capable of flight due to the powerful wings on its back.

Light wires bring power to its weapons from the reactor at its core.

Blast shield protects the crystal power core.

Best Part: Personally, I like the look of the light wires, and the large cannon on its shoulder.

Original Project #6: Microscale Gunship

Inspired By: Halo Reach "Falcon" Gunship

Description:
A miniature gunship, complete with twin rotors for flight and twin cannons for firepower.

Breakdown: This entire project relies on the 1x2 double-sided-studded piece, which composes the main body.

Best Part: Quick and easy to assemble, you could build a fleet in a matter of minutes!

Original Project #5: Yellow Spaceship

Inspired By: Star Wars Episode 2: Bounty Hunter's Ship

Description: A sleek yellow-and-black spaceship, the front of which is modeled after the ship above.

Also, I wanted to use some of the transparent yellow pieces that I had, which is the reasoning behind the color scheme.

It was difficult to fit the long black tail to the base of the ship, but it eventually worked out well.

Best Part: The curves on the front tips, which is a technique that is rarely used on ships but can still look pretty cool.

Original Project #4: Speakers

Inspired By:
Description: Relatively simple speaker set-up. Perfect for rock concerts.

Best Part: Can be turned into a traffic light, using the same pole.

PSA #2: Brickset

Quick promotional: If you've never been to http://www.brickset.com/ , it's worth a look. Their database allows you to browse through pictures of LEGO sets of old, as well as giving you a sneak peek at up-and-coming sets that haven't been released in LEGO magazine yet. Check it out!

Original Project #3: Cannon Car

Inspired By: Cannon Piece

Description:

This roadster features a red-and-black color scheme to highlight the large cannon that makes up the front of the car. And yes, it can actually be fired.

Best Part: Personally, I like how the tip of the bullet makes it seem more comical. It counter-acts the seriousness of the color scheme.

Original Project #2: Miscroscale Circle Ship

Inspired By: Dish Piece

Description: This microscale spaceship uses only 8 pieces, as seen below;

As such, it relies heavily on the 1x1 piece with studs on all 4 sides. It should also be mentioned that the antennas can be repositioned as you like;

Depending on how you want the "wings" to look.

Best Part: The simplicity of the design.

Original Project #1: Blue Jay Airplane

Inspired By: LEGO set 7741

Description:

I decided to turn a helicopter into an airplane, keeping the cockpit/windshield section roughly the same (you can even see the "police" sticker on the side of the Blue Jay). I used long, light wings to make it seem more likely to get airborne. As for the tail, I opted for a flat tail section that will work well as a grip, making it easy and fun to play with and fly around. Finally, I included "hydro cannons" under the wings because, well, why not?

Best Part: The thin elegance of the wings.
